Its amazing what all can change in five years. A little over five years ago I worked in a biomedical research lab. I wore a lab coat and nitrile gloves all day. I had three bosses, and despite how funny that is in Office Space, in real life, that is a miserable circumstance, especially when each boss has different and conflicting goals. I was miserable.
My methodical nature made me a good scientist--I went from a Bachelors to a PhD in four years with a 4.0GPA and multiple publications. What I never stopped to think about was my methodical, analytical nature isn't what makes me happy. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to walk away from science if I hadn't been laid off. I'm glad it all happened the way it did. I'm glad I have a wonderful husband and family who believed in the audacious leap and I'm ever grateful for all of the wonderful customers who have supported Green Springs these five years. I'm excited for the next five years.
A little over five years ago, I walked thru an empty building on Ram Cat Alley in downtown Seneca. It was love. I'm where I want to be. I'm where I'm supposed to be.
